NCC meeting extends partial lockdown till 9th May as cases top 12000

The number of COVID-19 patients in Pakistan are increasing with passing days. The government, therefore, has decided to extend the lockdown till the 9th of May. PM Imran Khan announced the decision in NCC meeting on Friday.

National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting on Coronavirus has decided to extend prevailing partial lockdown in the country till the 9th of next month.

This was announced by Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar while briefing media persons about decisions taken by National Coordination Committee, which met in Islamabad on Friday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair.

 

He said, “The government is working on increasing number of testing laboratories and isolation wards to effectively contain the Coronavirus.”

Asad Umar said, “The meeting also decided that no load-shedding will be observed during Sehar and Iftar in the holy month of Ramazan.”

Terming the Ehsaas Cash Emergency Programme as historic, the Planning Minister said the government has so far distributed 69 billion rupees to fifty-seven hundred thousand families across the country.

He urged the citizens to adopt precautionary measures and maintain proper social distancing during Ramazan.

Asad Umar said Pakistan Army is supporting the civil administration in its endeavours to combat the Coronavirus.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa also attended the NCC meeting presided by the Prime Minister Imran Khan. In order to curb the spread of the deadly disease, the steps for safety measures being taken by the federal and provincial governments were reviewed.

The number of virus carriers in the country are burgeoning day by day. According to the latest figures, the number of infected has surged to 11,940 along with 253 deaths across the country. Therefore, the government needs to take stricter actions for the safety of the people.

President, PM urge nation to demonstrate selflessness in Ramazan

The President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have congratulated the entire nation on the advent of holy month of Ramazan.

The President in his message on the advent of Ramazan said the blessed month of Ramazan teaches Muslims to be aware of the difficulties and sufferings faced by destitute and downtrodden segment of society.

Dr Arif Alvi said entire world is perplexed over the devastation carried out by COVID-19 and taking measures to overcome this challenge on emergency-footings.

The President urged the nation to adopt precautionary measures, maintain proper social distancing along with pursuing values of love, sacrifice, and piousness.

On the other hand Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message said entire humanity around the globe is facing devastating impacts of Coronavirus, and all major global powers seem to be toothless before this pandemic.

He urged the nation to take special care of poor needy people in these testing times by exercising complete unity and sacrifice.

The Prime Minister prayed to Allah Almighty to steer the humanity out of prevailing Coronavirus pandemic and also help Pakistan in emerging victorious in common fight against Covid-19.

He said we in Pakistan must use this holy month to ask Allah for forgiveness for neglecting the poor and vulnerable in our society.
