Iqrar-ul-Hassan's statements of not having a daughter did not go well with the netizens who slammed him for giving a perception that daughters are a burden to parents. Pakistani Twitter users compared him to former cricketer Shahid Afridi who is blessed with four daughters.

Pakistani netizens are drawing comparisons between cricketer Shahid Afridi and journalist Iqrar-ul-Hassan about being blessed with daughters.

Iqrar-ul-Hassan in a recent interview with Yasir Shami had said that he thanks God for not being blessed with a daughter due to the rising sex crimes against women in Pakistan. Daughters are considered a blessing in Islam, however, the journalist said that he feels content by not being blessed with a daughter. He said that a sharp decline in the sanctity and respect of women in Pakistan has been observed recently. And he fears that she might face harassment at some point in her life.

Journalist intended to say that Pakistan is swiftly becoming a country unsafe for women. He expressed these views in an interview with TikToker Ayesha Kamran who was sexually harassed, groped, and assaulted by a mob at Minar-e-Pakistan on 14th August Independence Day.
