Pakistan becomes world’s favorite due to Afghanistan evacuation process: FM Qureshi

During the last 3 weeks, world became dependent on Pakistan to get evacuated from Afghanistan. This has increased country's strategic importance.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Wednesday said that Pakistan extended complete assistance in the evacuation of diplomatic staff of various counties, personnel of international institutions and media representative from Kabul after the Taliban takeover of Afghan capital.

“Today, the world is appreciating Pakistan for its active, functional and positive role in the evacuation process”, he added.

The Foreign Minister expressed these views during a meeting with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) Air Marshal Arshad Malik here at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood was also present in the meeting during which the matters relating to the assistance extended by Pakistan in the evacuation process from Afghanistan were discussed.

The Foreign Minister felicitated the CEO of national flag carrier in continuing the flight operation in hard circumstance and evacuating a large of foreign nationals through PIA.

PIA evacuate 350 more people from Kabul

The national flag carrier with the support of the Pakistan embassy Kabul and local authorities brought back another 350 passengers from Kabul to Islamabad on Monday.

According to the available details round 350 passengers including foreigners and local Afghans attached with the World Bank and other international organizations, Afghan Wireless communication, Vimco Imtiaz construction company, Sky aero logistics, embassy of the Philippines etc were evacuated from Kabul.

Pakistan’s ambassador to Kabul Mansoor Ahmad Khan said the embassy had made special arrangements for the safe passage of the people from Afghanistan. He said the PIA carried some passengers on Sunday and will be operating two flights on Monday and more in the incoming days.

He said transportation arrangements have been made to safely transport the passengers from the embassy compound to the airport on Coaster vans and the embassy would also facilitate them in the boarding on the aircraft.
