Veteran Pakistani actress Zaheen Tahira passes away at the age of 79 in Karachi after suffering a cardiac arrest last month. The family sources confirmed on Tuesday.
The actress was in the hospital for the past two weeks. Grandson Danial Shahzad Khan shared the heartbreaking news on social media, explaining how Zaheen Tahira suffered a major cardiac arrest two weeks ago and since then the actress had to be shifted to a ventilator.
Zaheen Tahira stepped into the entertainment industry in the mid-’60s and was an established actress in cinema. Appearing in almost 700 drama serials, the actress was known for her performances in many notable shows such as Khuda Ki Basti, Aroosa, Kahaaniyan and many more.

She was honored with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2013 by then president Asif Ali Zardari for her distinctive work in the Pakistani TV industry.
Notable celebrities and government dignitaries expressed their grief over the news and remembered her services for Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf’s senator Faisal Javed Khan, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and Sindh provincial minister Nasir Hussain Shah condoled with the bereaved family.

“Veteran Actress Zaheen Tahira who started her career in 1966 and has given the most unbelievable plays passed away today. Her work will be remembered always. May Allah give her Jannat and sabar to (her) family,” wrote Sindh Governor Imran Ismail.
