Peshawar Zalmi Develops New Tradition: Gifts players ‘Kaptaan’ Sandals and More

Mehwish Hayat and Hania Amir performance bring charm in the new anthem of Peshawar Zalmi. Pashawar Zalmi is geared up for fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League. Players of Peshawar Zalmi expressed delight over presented Kaptaan Sandals to them from Pakistan's famous cobbler.

Pakistani actresses, Mehwish Hayat and Hania Amir perform in the new anthem of Peshawar Zalmi for the fifth edition of Pakistan Super League. The team players including Shoaib Malik, Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal, and Darren Sammy are featured in the song.

The Peshawar Zalmi anthem is a Pashto rap song, titled ‘Zalmi’, by Fortitude- Pukhtoon Core. Hassan Dawar has directed the video with Amir Mughal as DOP of ‘Zalmi’. Zalmi is an upbeat rap that will leave the listeners grooving to its beat.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s famous cobbler, Nooruddin, from Peshawar has gifted the players of Peshawar Zalmi his iconic, ‘Peshawari Chappal’.

“I designed more than 40 pairs of the Peshawari Chappal for all the players and the team management in three colors – brown, mustard, and tiger print. Since we could get their exact foot sizes, we managed to complete the task in time,” he said in an interview with Arab News.

He has named his iconic Peshawari sandals- ‘Kaptaan’, a term used for PM Khan. Among his high-profile customers are Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Arif Alvi and his wife, Governor Shah Farman, federal and provincial ministers, and army general. He even presented his symbolic Peshwari chappals to Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman during his tour to Pakistan in 2019.

He said he had been preparing these Peshawari chappals for three weeks and arrived in Karachi to hand over these to the players.

“They are our guests and I am a supporter of Peshawar Zalmi so I went all the way to Karachi to personally gift it to them,” he said.

The players of Peshawar Zalmi expressed delight over the traditional footwear presented to them from Pakistan’s famous cobbler. They even clicked pictures with him while Javed Afridi-owner of Peshawar Zalmi cheered the love and support shown to them by the residents of Peshawar.
