PIA crew member Towheed Daudpota gets international recognition

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crew member, Towheed Daudpota, gets international recognition from UN Women Pakistan for his unusual efforts to assist a female passenger and her baby on board.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crew member, Towheed Daudpota, gets international recognition from UN Women Pakistan for his unusual efforts to assist a female passenger. In a viral video, Towheed can be seen soothing a crying baby on a domestic flight.

The organization declared him the champion of the ‘He for She’ campaign for displaying empathy, gender sensitivity, respect & care to a women passenger, upholding long traditions of ‘Great People to Fly With.

Pakistan International Airlines and UN Women Pakistan shared the news on their respective Twitter accounts.

PIA shared the video of UN Women Pakistan honouring Daudpota.

“Mr Touheed Daudpota, the crew of #PIA, whose photos of soothing a baby went viral, was declared by @unwomen_pak the #HeforShe champion for displaying empathy, gender sensitivity, respect & care to a women pax, upholding long traditions of ‘#GreatPeopletoFlyWith’ #GenerationEquality, “ said PIA in a tweet.

PIA crew member received international recognition as appreciation poured in on social media on Friday when a picture of the steward calming a crying baby went viral.

The photo of the cabin crew manager, Towheed, was shared by singer and host Fakhr-e-Alam on his Twitter. Alam said the photo was sent to him by his friend. Adding that the crew member holding the baby walked up and down the aisle to soothe the baby after the mother failed to stop him from crying.

“A friend onboard @Official_PIA ISD to KHI early morning flight yesterday shared this. A baby was crying nonstop, the mother was exhausted & stressed, she couldn’t comfort the child. So the head purser Mr Towheed helped the child sleep. Now that truly is GREAT people to fly with,” wrote Fakhr-e-Alam.

The kind gesture came as a surprise to the people as national carrier is often in news due to poor service and mismanagement.

While unpleasant news mostly dominates the coverage of PIA in media, there are some exceptional stories of the kind service of the national carrier as well.
