PML-N slammed for mistreating lion cub at rally

The lion is an electoral symbol of PML-N and hence was brought to cheer former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Netizens called out the party members and workers for mistreating the animal at the rally.

A video of a lion cub being displayed at the rally of PML-N has been making rounds on social media. The viral video shows the participants of the rally displaying the lion tied with chains.

The lion is an electoral symbol of PML-N and hence the cub was brought to cheer former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Netizens called out the party members and workers for mistreating the animal at the rally.

“Why animals are being tortured and abused in PMLN rallies? Highly unwarranted. This is in patent violation of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1890 and jurisprudence/law settled by superior courts w.r.t welfare of animals,” wrote a Twitter user while sharing the video.

 

“This is animal cruelty and despite there being laws on the subject, there is zero enforcement on part of the government. Sad state of affairs” wrote another Twitter user.

“Some junglee jahil Noonies torturing a lion during a rally came up in my feed. So bloody disgusting to see,” wrote Sara Taseer, the daughter of Salman Taseer.

PML-N leaders under fire

PML-N leaders had been under fire for their inappropriate behavior with female party workers in recent days.

Earlier Maryam Nawaz was being slammed for disrespecting a party worker. She was slammed for arrogant and rude behavior and shoving off her party worker. According to the netizens, Maryam Nawaz disrespected her party workers out of rudeness and arrogance.

PTI government officials shared the video online and questioned her behavior. “This is the honor of Noon League workers in the eyes of Maryam Safdar,” said Azhar Mashwani, the Punjab government official.

Earlier, PTI had accused PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz of running social media trends against Prime Minister Imran Khan. The accusation comes amid the recent arrest of Sabir Mahmood Hashmi, a PML-N activist, for vilifying the First Lady.
