PM’s focal person on digital media resigns, claims cannot be part of any “cheating”

In a series of emotion-riddled tweets, Ahmad Jawad said he cannot remain part of any ‘cheating’. He added that commissions are set up in our country to put the issues on the back burner.

In a major development, Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Digital Media and Technologies Ahmad Jawad on Friday resigned from his office.

On Aug 5, 2022, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed PTI’s expelled former information secretary Ahmad Jawad as his focal person on digital media and technologies. Soon after his appointment, Ahmad Jawad took to Twitter to express gratitude, with vowed to fight the ‘narrative of lie, hatred, and hypocrisy’.

In his resignation letter addressed to the PM, Ahmad Jawad revealed that the decisions, which are apparently made by the government, were actually taken and executed from three different places, and that he was tendering his resignation after coming to know about the compulsions the PM was faced with.

Later, in a series of emotion-riddled tweets confirming his resignation, Ahmad Jawad said he cannot remain part of any ‘cheating’. He added that commissions are set up in our country to put the issues on the back burner.

“Preparations have started for the funeral of another truth,” Ahmad Jawad said while referring to a commission formed to investigate the killing of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.

He appealed to the nation to stand with the truth and urged them to differentiate between truth and lie. “The time has come when youth should listen to the voice of their conscience.” Ahmed Jawad urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to immediately announce the date of fresh elections.

Ahmad Jawad said he was resigning on call of his conscience.

Earlier this week, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar tendered his resignation for ‘personal reasons’.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar’s resignation came after he was spotted at the Asma Jahangir Conference where audiences chanted slogans against the institutions.
