PTI leaders claim of injustice as Azam Swati again fails to get post-arrest bail

PTI leaders are once again expressing their anger at the delay in justice for Senator Azam Swati. Taking to Twitter, PTI leaders are decrying the lack of rule of law in Pakistan.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has adjourned senior PTI Senator Azam Swati’s post-arrest bail petition in a sedition case for posting controversial tweets against the state institution.

According to the details, IHC chief justice Amir Farooq heard the post-arrest bail petition filed by PTI senator Azam Swati. The bail petition states that the PTI leader did not post any derogatory remarks against the state institutions.

PTI leaders are once again expressing their anger at the delay in justice for Senator Azam Swati. Taking to Twitter, PTI leaders are decrying the lack of rule of law in Pakistan.

“The three incidents of Arshad Sharif, Azam Swati case, and Imran Khan’s non-filing of FIR have exposed the true face of the rule of law in Pakistan, how our system stands with its hands tied in front of powerful people. Weak judges have become the puppets of elites,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

“The law gives Senator Azam Swati the right of bail. Why is he still in jail? Whither rule of law!” Former Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said.

“One Pakistan, 2 rules of law unacceptable. Free 75 years old political prisoner Senator Azam Khan Swati. Judges should realize that one day they too will have to be answerable to the most Powerful Judge – Allah Almighty. All should fear that day,” Omar Ayub Khan said.

“There is a double standard of justice that the senior senator Azam Khan Swati was arrested and deprived of bail for a tweet, while relief and open leave from the courts for the robbers of billions of rupees. The country cannot run without the supremacy of the constitution and law!” Senator Dr. Shahzad Waseem said.

“Clearly all are not equal before the law. Azam Swati continues to be victimised for bruising fragile egos so is denied bail. For 2 tweets he suffers over 2 dozen FIRs and incarceration while money launderers whitewashed by the system,” Shireen Mazari said.

“Fear and intimidation simply don’t make diverse countries like Pakistan stronger. They weaken the bonds that would otherwise take us through tough times,” Taimur Khan Jhagra said.

On Nov 27, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested PTI Senator Azam Swati in a case related to controversial tweets against state institutions. The PTI leader was taken into custody by a three-member FIA team from his farmhouse located in Islamabad’s Chak Shahzad.
