The public address of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been receiving humongous attention on social media. The address was scheduled at 8 pm on 27th May, Friday night. The address was broadcasted with a delay of hours.
PM Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation after a sharp spike in the petrol prices. Shehbaz Sharif announced a relief package of Rs.28 billion for poor families. Under the relief package, each family will be given Rs.2000 per month to protect the poor from the burden of petrol and diesel price hike”.
He further directed the utility stores to set the price of a 10kg sack of flour at Rs.400. Sharif talked about the reasons to raise the petrol prices.
Social media brimmed with interesting reactions following the speech. Some said Prime Minister Sharif did not talk about the concrete economic plan but instead centered his speech on former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his government.
This heavy stilted speech full of incorrect stats being read from a teleprompter is not going to assuage people’s anger at PDM ki zabardasti ki govt’s disastrous performance in the last one month. And no, you don’t get Khan-did-it-hum-helpless card. History of decades of power

I don't mind using a teleprompter. Majority of leaders use it for their speeches but there's a way to speak reading from it. This is like robotic reading 5th graders used to do from the book.

What a shame !
No clear policy objectives, building narrative that revolves around the fact that PTI punctured the economy, no confidence at all, no future plans, no logical arguments, limitless pauses & edits, teleprompter.#ShehbazSharif #ImranKhan #PTI #امپوڑٹڈ_حکومت_نامنظور pic.twitter.com/kSWat9SYs6

He accused the previous government of pushing the country into a mess. A group of Twitter users believe that PM Sharif lacked grit and coherence in his speech. Pictures of a teleprompter also circulated on social media.
PTI followers said that Imran Khan delivered was coherent in his public addresses and did not deliver a written speech. Whereas Shehbaz Sharif broadcasted a recorded address and read out a written speech from a teleprompter.
After waiting a lifetime to be on the hot seat #ShehbazSharif never bothered to get his public speaking skills up to scratch. He can’t even read from teleprompter.
What a downgrade from KING KHAN.#CrimeMinisterRejected

A score of social media users said that the speed of Shehbaz Sharif was slow-paced which made the listeners lose interest. Many users said that they did not listen to the speech till the end.
Notable journalists and political commentators also voiced their views on the lackluster speech of Shehbaz Sharif. Many believed that he should have been smooth in his speech while addressing the nation.
