Sanju, one of the most anticipated movies of the year is all set to be realized on 29th June. With its trailer trending worldwide on Youtube, It is a biopic of the Bollywood legend Sanjay Dutt, played by one of the biggest contemporary stars of Bollywood Ranbir Kanpoor. The film is written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Some of the biggest stars in Bollywood are featured in this movie including Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor and many others.

The teaser of the movie reached 150 million global views. It shows Ranbir Kapoor depicting Sanjay Dutt of different eras and narrating his story. What was anticipated to be a serious film actually seem to be more of a comedy as the teaser lives up to the saying “One Man, Many Lives,” in a humorous manner. The glimpse has already left people in awe.

A video of Sanjay Dutt praising the movie surfaced on the internet. He praised Ranbir’s acting and his striking resemblance with himself in the movie. The unique aspect of the movie is that it is being produced during the lifetime of Sanjay Dutt unlike most biopics which are made posthumously.

Sanjay Dutt was born into Bollywood cinematic giants Sunil Dutt and Nargis. The movie, based on the life of none other than the ‘bad boy of Bollywood,’ reveals all facets of Sanjay Dutt’s life –  From his drug addiction during his early 20s to his tryst with the law in connection to the Mumbai blasts, his days spent in jail to his ‘308’ girlfriends and his lavish lifestyle, as shown in the teaser.

Encompassing all sides of the “shocking story of a man who lived many lives,” Ranbir Kapoor told news agency PTI that it’s not a “propaganda film.” “We are trying to show a very human side of Sanjay Dutt, his perils, his downfall, his will to fight… how he handled his mother’s death two days before the release of his debut film, his relationship with his father,” he stated.

Sanju is a hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of the man’s battle against himself and the external forces trying to crush him. It represents the will power and struggle of a man through everything that life can throw at him. Some true movies leave you thinking “can this really happen?” This one actually did happen. If you are a fan of the ‘Munna Bhai’ then this is a great opportunity to learn more about his life and considering its endorsement from Sanjay Dutt himself, it is safe to assume that the movie is not biased.
