Social media account of Pakistan Embassy in Algeria hacked

Pakistan’s Foreign Officer issued a clarification in a tweet after a series of tweets were done from the Embassy’s account. It clarified that tweets made were not from the account of the Pakistan Embassy.

The social media account of the Pakistan Embassy in Algeria was reportedly hacked on Wednesday, says Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

Pakistan’s Foreign Officer issued a clarification in a tweet after a series of tweets were done from the Embassy’s account. It clarified that tweets made were not from the account of the Pakistan Embassy.

The statement came after a disturbing tweet came that read that all the missions of the country are alleged, “ordered to divert funds to Ukraine for evacuating Pakistani nationals.”

The tweet further added that no Pakistani national has been evacuated from the war-hit Ukraine and that the embassy did not have funds to pay for its employees.

The said post questioned if the embassy should turn to India for help as Pakistani nationals were “using the Indian flag to flee”.

This is another faux pass reported in the last few months regarding the misleading tweets from the official accounts of the Pakistan Embassy.

Hacking, and more hacking!

Back in December, Pakistan Foreign Office claimed that the official account of the Embassy of Pakistan in Serbia has been hacked. A tweet slamming Prime Minister Imran Khan for rising inflation and price hike had appeared from the official account of the Embassy of Serbia.

The tweet read: “With inflation breaking all previous records, how long do you expect @ImranKhanPTI that we government official will remain silent & keep working for you without been paid for past 3 months.”

“Our children been forced out of school due to non-payment of fees Is this #NayaPakistan?” read the tweet. The embassy handle further tweeted, “I am sorry @ImranKhanPTI, am not left with another option.”

The embassy had shared an anti-Imran Khan song criticizing him for inflation and soaring prices of basic commodities. The song was titled, ‘Ghabrana Nahi Hai’.

The tweet ensured chaos among citizens and government dignitaries alike. The tweet, shaming, and embarrassing PM Imran Khan immediately went viral on social media.
