Umar Akmal has been out of the Pakistan cricket team squad for a long time now. Do you agree with the accusations of Umar Akmal?

Former Pakistan cricket team coach Mickey Arthur has strongly reacted to the allegations leveled by Pakistani cricketer Umar Akmal.

Umar Akmal accused Mickey Arthur of ruining his career. Arthur also reacted to his accusation in a Twitter post.

Sports journalist Alia Rasheed posted a tweet in which she quoted Umar Akmal as saying, “Mickey Arthur has spoiled my career. The then selection committee & local coaches didn’t support me”. Umar Akmal had passed these statements in a televised interview. Mickey Arthur reacted to his statements and said, “take a look in the mirror”.

Umar Akmal has been out of the Pakistan cricket team squad for a long time now. He made his comeback to the cricket in the last PSL tournament.

In a press conference in 2017, Umar Akmal said that Mickey Arthur misbehaved with him and asked him to play club cricket.  Arthur denied the allegations of insulting Umar Akmal.

Back in 2020,  the anti-corruption unit of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on February 20, had provisionally suspended Umar Akmal on the day when the Pakistan Super League commenced in Karachi.

The PCB said Umar violated its code on two counts. “The PCB has charged Umar Akmal with two breaches of the anti-corruption code which relates to not reporting a fixing offer,” said a PCB press release.

Under the PCB anti-corruption code, a player is required to immediately report to a team manager or officials of the anti-corruption unit when he receives an offer to fix a match.

Under the code, if a player is found guilty the penalty ranges from a suspension of six months to a lifetime ban.

He was suspended for three-year but resumed his club cricket in 2021. “Umar Akmal has been allowed to resume club cricket activities as part of his rehabilitation process, which commenced last month,” said the PCB.
