Three Chinese towns named sister cities to Karachi, Gwadar, and Multan

Three Chinese cities, Urumqi, Puyang and Xian have been named the sister cities to Karachi, Gwadar, and Multan. The decision has been taken in a bid to strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and China. The decision was taken at a forum on the friendly cooperation between the cities of China and Pakistan on Thursday.

The Pakistani and Chinese delegates signed a separate agreement in this regard in the presence of Federal Minister of Inter Provincial Coordination, Dr. Fehmida Mirza, Pakistan Ambassador to China, Masood Khalid, Vice President, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Lin Yi and Executive Vice Governor of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

It will enhance mutual understanding between enterprises of the two countries and boost economic and trade ties. Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to make a visit to China next month.

Speaking as the chief guest Dr. Fehmeeda Mirza said that they highly value the cooperation and relations between Pakistan and China. She also acknowledged the role of China in de-escalating the recent tensions between India and Pakistan and appreciated China’s continuous support towards Pakistan.

The minister also lauded the participation of Chinese contingent in the Pakistan Day’s Parade and the spectacular air show presented by the Chinese pilots. She added that China’s participation has increased the prestige of the occasion and it also gave a loud and clear message that the two nations stood shoulder to shoulder through thick and thin.

The forum will now look forward towards facilitating cooperation in province-city management, public health, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, trade and investment, tourism, urbanisation, and vocational/ professional education. It will enhance mutual understanding between enterprises of the two countries and boost economic and trade ties. Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to make a visit to China next month.
