Twitter lauds Chief Justice Khosa in Khadija Siddiqui’s stabbing case

The social mediascape of Pakistan immensely appreciated the apex court’s decision on Khadija Siddiqui stabbing case. The law student Khadija Siddiqui had knocked the doors of Supreme Court of Pakistan after Lahore High Court acquitted the accused Shah Hussain in 2018.

Siddiqui challenged the decision in Supreme Court, while the higher court accepting her plea overturned the decision of Hussain Shah’s acquittal and ordered his immediate arrest from the courtroom.

On May 3, 2016, Khadija Siddiqui was stabbed 23 times when she went to pick her younger sister from school with her driver. As she was about to get back into the car, a bike rider in the helmet from behind stabbed Khadija 23 times. She was critically injured and was shifted to hospital.

A judicial magistrate sentenced Shah Hussain for seven-year imprisonment but he was later acquitted by Lahore High Court the following year.

A three-member bench of the SC headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, after hearing arguments from both sides on Wednesday, accepted Siddiqui’s appeal to overturn the acquittal and declared the LHC’s verdict null and void.

Khadija Siddiqui expressed her delight over the court’s decision and declared it the victory for every oppressed woman. She in her message encouraged women to step forward to fight against the injustices against them.

The celebrities like Hamza Ali Abbasi and Osman Khalid Butt, who are quite vocal about women’s empowerment lauded the Supreme Court’s decision. They also appreciated the resolve and determination of Khadija Siddiqui who stood firm in the face of life threats and other obstacles.

Hamza Ali Abbasi tweeted, “Allah ka shukkar. Salute to the determination of Khadija who has halted her studies abroad to fight the case here in Pakistan. Now we all await an exemplary punishment.”

The comedian Ali Gul Pir also tweeted and said, “Congratulations Khadija! A great news as justice is finally served in this particular case. Thank you Chief Justice Khosa
