Umair Jaswal to play Shoaib Akhtar in biopic Rawalpindi Express

Actor and singer Umair Jaswal will play legendary Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar in the biopic film Rawalpindi Express. The actor took to social media to share the news with his fans and followers.

Jaswal shared the poster of the film on his Instagram account. In the caption, he said, “Super excited to announce & share this with all of you. I’m honored to play the living legend, Mr. Shoaib Akthar on the big screen in RAWALPINDI EXPRESS.”

“With Allah’s blessings may we succeed in our endeavors. We look forward to bringing to you a first-of-its-kind biopic film worthy of worldwide recognition,” said the singer on Instagram.

The release date of the film has not been announced yet. Earlier, Shoaib Akhtar shared the news of his biopic movie on social media. Back in July, he shared the teaser of the film. Akhtar said the book is in the making. On his official Twitter account, he shared the motion teaser of his biopic.

“Beginning of this beautiful journey. Announcing the launch of my story, my life, my Biopic, RAWALPINDI EXPRESS – Running against the odds. You’re in for a ride you’ve never taken before. The first foreign film is about a Pakistani Sportsman. Controversially yours, Shoaib Akhtar,” wrote Akhtar on Twitter.

The film is directed by Faraz Qaiser under the banner of Qfilmproductions. Faraz also talked about the upcoming project on his social media. “An idea that came in 2016, has finally come to life. The poster for my first feature film is now out!” wrote the director on his Instagram story.

The film will be launched on November 16th, 2023. Other details are yet to be revealed. Shoaib Akhtar emerged in the late 90s and was known as the fastest bowler in the world. His career was marred by several controversies and ups and downs. Despite that, he left a lasting impact on the cricketing world.
