Umar Akmal joins TikTok, garners mockery on viral video

Umar Akmal's video had instantly gone viral on social media where he can be seen, once again, grabbing the attention on social media for his bizarre activities.

Away from cricket, Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal is looking to become a TikTok influencer. He recently shared his video from his TikTok on his Instagram account asking his fans and followers to follow him on TikTok.

His video had instantly gone viral on social media with Umar Akmal, once again, grabbing the attention for his bizarre activities. Perhaps, unable to make a place for himself in the playing 11 of the Pakistan cricket team, he plans to venture on social media platforms as a potential influencer and celebrity.

His viral video ensued an onslaught of criticism and mockery on social media. Several social media users trolled the cricketers while others slammed him for grabbing attention every time for trivial matters.

Last year, ICC banned Umar Akmal from all three formats of cricket on charges of failing to report match-fixing approaches. Before his ban, he was temporarily suspended from the board under anti-corruption charges.

Anti-corruption laws make it mandatory for players to report when they are approached for match-fixing. His ban was reduced to 18 months after an appeal. His ban was further reduced to 12 months after he appeared in the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), which has already been served. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 4.2 million.

The decision was announced by a disciplinary committee after a brief hearing of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which charged the player with two breaches. The batsman burst onto the scene with a century in his first Test in 2009, but his career has been marred by disciplinary problems, resulting in various bans and fines.

He was arrested in February 2014 after a scuffle with a traffic warden who stopped him for a signal violation.

Now, Umar Akmal has been posting videos of his fitness regime on his Instagram account. Fans are speculating if he is maintaining his fitness to get back into the team.
