Vice Foreign Minister of China conferred with Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam civil award

Pakistan’s civil award, Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam, has been conferred upon the Vice Foreign Minister of China Kong Xuanyou, in a gathering held at Pakistan’s embassy in Beijing on Monday. Pakistan’s ambassador to China Masood Khalid on behalf of the president of Pakistan presented the award to Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou in a Special Investiture Ceremony.

The award was represented to Kong in recognition of his services to Pakistan and further strengthening of China-Pakistan relations. The event was attended by the officers of Pakistan Embassy and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with media representatives.

He is currently serving as the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia and Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs. In his capacity as Assistant Minister and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs for Asia, Kong led the Pakistan-China Strategic dialogue aimed at promoting bilateral relations between the two countries.

He has been the driving force behind the regular high-level visits between Pakistan and China that has resulted in positive outcomes for both the countries including the important visit of President Xi Jinping to Pakistan in April 2015 and the launch and subsequent consolidation of CPEC.

The event was attended by the officers of Pakistan Embassy and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with media representatives.

“Mr. Kong Xuanyou has been a great friend of Pakistan and an ardent advocate of Pakistan-China friendship. Mr. Kong has earnestly worked to promote and reinforce the all-weather friendship between China and Pakistan. He has cultivated goodwill for Pakistan in different spheres of influence in China,” read a statement from Pakistani Embassy.

“In his capacity as Assistant Minister and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs for Asia, Mr Kong led the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue aimed at promoting bilateral relations between the two countries.

“Mr Kong and his team have contributed enormously to achieving positive outcomes from regular high-level visits between Pakistan and China, including the historic visit of President Xi Jinping to Pakistan in April 2015, and the launch and subsequent consolidation of CPEC,” the statement said.
