Writer of Tere Bin serial defends marital rape scene

The writer of the ongoing trending drama serial ‘Tere Bin’ Nooran Makhdoom defends the marital rape scene in the serial. Yumna Zaidi and Wajah Ali are playing the lead roles in the drama serial.

The possible marital rape scene between the on-screen couple Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali follows after an intense fight in which Meerub(Yumna Zaidi) slaps her husband Murtasim (Wahaj Ali).

The scene did not go well with the Tere Bin fans who expressed their outrage on social media for a not-so-well shocker in the drama serial. Writer Nooran Makhdoom is now defending the scene in several interviews. She says this scene will lead to the climax of the drama serial.

“It’s a situation which was the demand of the serial that will lead to the climax,” Nooran Makhdoom, the writer of Tere Bin, said in an interview with Arab News. “If the audience isn’t getting it, I can’t change it,” she continued. “It’s just a drama. They should wait for the entire story to unfold instead of taking issue with every episode.”

“It’s not like this has happened onscreen for the first time,” she added. “It’s just that this project has received such wide recognition that people reacted strongly to the recent twist,” says Nooran Makhdoom.

Makhdoom said that she stands by her script. “If you speak of my social responsibility, I created a story and I stand by it,” she told the publication. “And this is not an unusual occurrence; it has happened before.”
