Pakistani actor to star in ‘Men In Black’ spin-off

News Desk |

Sony is definitely hoping to go big with its upcoming Men In Black spin-off. Based on a comic book the Men In Black series revolves around agents of a secret organization called Men In Black. The first film came out in 1997 and starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The two collaborated further on two more sequels. In 2017 it was announced that the Men In Black Universe would grow bigger due to a spinoff which many have been calling MIB.

The film will headline actors Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. But now a new report has revealed that Pakistani-American actor Kumail Nanjiani will be joining the cast. The actor best known for playing Dinesh Chugtai in HBO’s Sillicon Valley became huge hit after the adaptation of his and his wife’s love story (which they both penned together) became a critical and commercial success.

Entitled The Big Short, the movie covered romance as well as race and family issues and went on to be Oscar nominated for Best Original Screenplay. It also established him as a force to be reckoned with and now the actor is set to appear in films like The Voyage of Doctor Doolitle (though in a voice role) and Stuber alongside Dave Bautista.

His role in the untitled Man In Black spinoff only goes to show how far the actor has come since his standup days. What character he will play remains a mystery and despite the film being scheduled to release in 2019, a surprisingly large amount of information about the project is unseen including the plot of the story and how it will exist in between the existing Man In Black movies. Steven Spielberg would return to act as an executive producer in the project. Other actors joining the franchise would be Laurie MacDonald, Walter Parkes and Liam Neeson.
