Anwar Maqsood denies rumors of his abduction and torture

Maqsood released a statement through his son Bilal Maqsood on social media regarding him being safe and sound. Bilal Maqsood stated that the reports were unfounded and criticized anyone spreading such information without verifying its authenticity.

Legendary Pakistani writer, host, satirist, and humorist Anwar Maqsood denies news of his abduction and physical torture to stop him from speaking against the current government and its “facilitators”.

A few days ago, fake news circulated on social media regarding his abduction and alleged torture of him. He said that this fake news has made his life hell for the past few days.

Maqsood released a statement through his son Bilal Maqsood on social media regarding him being safe and sound. Bilal Maqsood stated that the reports were unfounded and criticized anyone spreading such information without verifying its authenticity.

The famous writer, in a now detailed video statement, said: “During the recent days, some reports were rife due to which my life had become hell. I have fans across the world; people from different countries and cities were inquiring about my well-being. I’m fine.”

He added: “I’m 84 years old. I won’t keep breathing if I’m slapped.”  Maqsood added that such a thing will never happen to him.

Maqsood added that “I love my soldiers who are sacrificing their lives for us. I’m not saying this on anyone’s instructions, I’m saying this from my heart.”

The writer added that he has a basic phone that does not even have social media applications on it. “42 fake accounts are running on social media with my name and image. I told the FIA, police to bring those accounts down, but they said they couldn’t do anything,” he added. “But until my last breath, I will keep working for you [fans] and Pakistan,” he said.

Social media users also urged people to stop spreading misinformation at this critical time in the country.  The celebrated showbiz personality is known for his satirical comments on social and political issues in the country.
