Ariana Grande releases new album ‘Eternal Sunshine’

The new LP — whose title is inspired by the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind — features 13 tracks, co-produced by Grande, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Max Martin.

Ariana Grande officially released her seventh studio album Eternal Sunshine, her first album in over three years.

The new LP — whose title is inspired by the 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind — features 13 tracks, co-produced by Grande, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Max Martin. The album’s digital cover art sees the back of Grande’s head, leaning against a clone of herself.

“Things are just pouring out and happening very quickly as they often do. You know how I am and you know how these things go,” she said in early February. “I wanted to share with you that this is kind of a concept album because it’s all different heightened pieces of the same story of the same experience.”

Grande shared the project’s 13-song track list last month, including songs such as “Don’t Wanna Break Up Again,” “True Story,” and “The Boy Is Mine.” The singer dropped the first single, “Yes, And?” back in January, debuting at Number One on the Hot 100, before releasing a remix of the song featuring Mariah Carey.

Eternal Sunshine joins her six previous records: 2013’s Yours Truly, 2014’s My Everything, 2016’s Dangerous Woman, 2018’s Sweetener, 2019’s Thank U, Next, and 2020’s Positions.

The album is being celebrated with a video for the track “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” which is set to arrive on Friday. She shared teasers of the visual ahead of its release, including a clip of her filling out a consent form for “Brighter Days Inc.”

In the song’s upcoming music video, a red card reading AG7 — shorthand for her seventh studio album — featured coordinates that led to Montauk, New York. The clues all came together as Grande finally announced the record title. Montauk was the prime filming location for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the film directed by Michel Gondry. (Kate Winslet and Jim Carrey, whose birthday is today, star in the film.)

Over the last few months, the star has teased the record with videos and photos of her in the studio with Martin. She first worked with the pop juggernaut on her sophomore album, My Everything.
