Babar Azam breaks and makes records as Pakistan beats Australia

Pakistan has leveled the series with a win on Thursday. The host had lost the first ODI match against the visiting Australian team attracting criticism from the cricket fans. Pakistan successfully chased it down successful with six wickets in hand, making it the highest-ever chase by the Pakistan cricket team.

Skipper Babar Azam breaks and makes new records as he scored 114 runs against Australia in the second ODI on Thursday at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Pakistan won the toss and was elected to field first. Australia batting first set a mighty target of 349 runs. Pakistan successfully chased it down successful with six wickets in hand, making it the highest-ever chase by the Pakistan cricket team.

Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq set a strong partnership to chase the target. Babar scored his 4th ODI century as a captain, also becoming the quickest batsman in the world to score his 15th ODI century, breaking the record of cricket legends Hashim Amla and Virat Kohli.

Babar Azam making big!

It took Babar Azam 83 innings to score his 15th ODI century as compared to Hashim Amla who scored his 15th ODI century in 86 innings and Virat Kohli in 106th innings. He also became the first Pakistani captain to score a century against Australia in ODI. This record was earlier held by Imran Khan who scored 82 runs against Australia in 1990.

Babar Azam has also became the captain of the Pakistan cricket team with the most ODI hundreds. He has scored four centuries as the captain breaking the record of Azhar Ali who scored three ODI centuries as captain. Both Inzamam-ul-Haq and Shahid Afridi have scored 2 ODI hundreds as captains.

Aaron Finch, the captain of the Australian cricket team while commenting on the performance of the Babar Azam and Pakistan team said: “I mean if you have Babar Azam in the team it’s not a surprise that we lost so easily even after scoring more than 320+ runs. He is the best ODI player in the world and today he showed why.”
