Bilawal to meet Akhtar Mengal to get rid of PTI’s government

After meeting senior leadership of PML-N, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is to meet Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal in Islamabad today, claim sources. The PPP leader wants to get rid of the government and is seeking support of all other parties for the same.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to meet Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal in Islamabad today (Saturday), reliable sources told GVS. As Bilawal to meet Akhtar Mengal in Islamabad, there are reports suggesting an anti-government plan to get rid of PM Imran Khan.

The BNP-M has 4 seats in the National Assembly and nine in the Balochistan assembly. It established a working relationship with the PTI-led government and demanded the development of the province. However, recently Akhtar Mengal said goodbye to the ruling coalition citing ‘broken promises’ as the main reason behind their collective decision.

As per details, the PPP chairman contacted the BNP-M chief and asked his time for a meeting, Both the leaders agreed to hold a meeting today, in the federal capital, sources privy to the development said. The meeting would discuss the matters related to mutual interests and the overall situation of the country.

On June 18, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) President Asif Ali Zardari and Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal, held a telephonic conversation.

The top political leaders of their parties had discussed the strategy adopted by the federal government to tackle COVID-19 pandemic in the country. The two also discussed issues pertaining to locust attacks and rising poverty in the country.

Speaking during the telephonic conversation, Akhtar Mengal had said that the country needs political leaders like Asif Zardari. “Negligence on part of country’s leaders is complicating the situation with every passing day,” he had said. Asif Zardari said, sources claim, that the PPP has always strengthened the country, democracy and poor segments of the society.

PPP approached Mengal in the past?

In the past when the BNP was not at good terms with the PTI, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, constituted a four members committee to win the support of Akhtar Mengal. The committee included Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Farhatullah Babar, Raja Pervez Ashraf and Khursheed Ahmed Shah, their task was to win Mengal’s support in order to convince him to vote against the government’s budget bill, media reports suggested.

The BNP-M and PPP have been allies in the general elections 2018 when PPP supported BNP’s candidates on NA-272 Lasbela-Gwadar and PB-51 Gwadar whereas, BNP backed PPP’s candidates on PB-39 and PB-50.

PML-N and PPP to get rid of PTI’s government?

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on last Sunday once again refused to meet Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari citing health issues. However, a delegation of the former ruling party went to see Bilawal and finalize future strategies.

PPP and PML-N jointly announced to hold an ‘All Parties Conference’ (APC) after Eidul Azha in order to discuss strategies “to get rid of PTI”.

Addressing a joint press conference, PPP’s Qamar Zaman Kaira and PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal said that a coordination committee meeting will be held this week to discuss the APC agenda.

The presser was held after a meeting between PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and a three-member PML-N delegation at Bilawal House, Lahore. The PML-N delegation included Iqbal, Khawaja Saad Rafique, and Ayaz Sadiq, while PPP’s Kaira, Chaudhry Manzoor, and Hasan Murtaza also attended the meeting.
