‘Bridgerton’ star raises voice for Palestine

Beyond her posts, Coughlan frequently shares pro-Palestinian content on her Instagram Stories, encouraging her followers to join her in supporting Palestine.

Nicola Coughlan, known for her role in “Bridgerton,” is stepping into the lead for the Netflix series’ third season. However, her rising stardom hasn’t deterred her from advocating for Palestine and calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. At the Bridgerton premiere, she donned a white gown accented with an Artists4Ceasefire pin, symbolizing her commitment.

During the release week of “Bridgerton,” Coughlan leveraged the spotlight to raise awareness for Gaza. On Instagram, she urged followers to call for a ceasefire, sharing an image of herself with the Artists4Ceasefire pin.

She captioned it, “You might have seen me wear a red pin on the red carpet and press events during the last while and I thought it would be a good time to share some information about Artists4Ceasefire and what we stand for.” While she disabled comments on this post, she enabled them on a subsequent video of her appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” where she wore the same pin. Supportive comments flooded in, praising her stance on Palestine.

Al Buruj Press also commended Coughlan’s advocacy. They posted on Instagram, highlighting her dedication to raising awareness about Rafah amid the premiere of one of TV’s biggest shows.

In an interview with Teen Vogue, Coughlan discussed using her platform to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, despite warnings that it could affect her career. She has raised thousands of pounds for relief efforts through Instagram fundraisers. “I think it’s important to me because firstly, I’m a very privileged person,” she explained. “I’m so lucky I’ve gotten to this point in my career, and I’m privileged as a white woman, first off. Then, the fact that I get to do the job I love and travel the world and meet amazing people, I feel a moral responsibility to give back.”

Regarding Gaza, Coughlan stated, “You do get told that you won’t get work, you won’t do this. But I also think, deep down, if you know that you’re coming from a place of not wanting any innocent people to suffer, then I’m not worried about people’s reactions.”
