The famous Centaurus Mall in Islamabad has been sealed by Capital Development Authority (CDA) in an overnight raid. The mall has been sealed after its administration failed to take security measures, especially since a massive fire erupted in the mall in the recent past.
According to the details, CDA officials and local police raided the Centaurus Mall and expelled the administrative staff as well as guards, after which the building was sealed.
The CDA had issued several notices to the management of Centaurus Mall to ensure safety measures after the eruption of a fire in the mall a couple of months ago.
Despite the CDA’s notices, safety measures against fire eruptions had not been taken by the management of the mall. Also, repairs had not been made to the damages caused by the fire. Therefore, CDA took the action late Monday night and sealed the Mall.

In October, a blaze erupted in Islamabad’s famous shopping mall Centaurus. The fire started in the food court. However, the fire was put out after two hours of frantic work with no reported casualties. The PAF and Pakistan Navy both contributed personnel to the firefighting effort.

PM Shehbaz exchanges hot words with AJK Premier Tanveer
Interestingly, speculations are rife on social media that the sealing of Centaurus Mall was in response to Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas “misbehaving” with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. To clarify, AJK Premier is the owner of the Centaurus Mall.

Pertinent to mention that Centaurus Mall was sealed after a heated debate between Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to Mangla. PM Shehbaz Sharif didn’t allow the AJK PM to speak during his speech.

When Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a hydropower project for Kohistan during his speech, the Azad Kashmir prime minister stood up from his seat and said that he did not make any announcement for Azad Kashmir and strongly protested against this behavior. To which the prime minister of Pakistan told the AJK PM that he would talk to him later.

While netizens believed that the sealing of the mall was a political matter, the CDA has stated that the mall was sealed for failing to comply with safety measures.
