CM Sindh announces huge punishment for Shahrukh Jatoi’s facilitators

Videos emerged showing Jatoi making full use of television, airconditioner, and a refrigerator among other facilities, in a private hospital room. This is a clear violation of the rules and procedures of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah announced strict action against those responsible for allowing Shahrukh Jatoi to leave jail. Earlier, reports emerged that Shahrukh Jatoi was living in a private hospital in Karachi for the last two years.

According to the report, Shahrukh Jatoi’s family rented the upper floor of Qamar-ul-Islam Hospital in Karachi. The imprisoned convict lived a normal life despite the conviction in a murder case.

Jatoi was living a “luxurious lifestyle” in the hospital for more than two years instead of Karachi’s central jail. Moreover, sources stated that Jatoi left the hospital premises on several occasions. During that time, no police officials were on duty.

After the report emerged, authorities immediately shifted Shahrukh Jatoi back to jail. Interestingly, the hospital claimed that it received Jatoi on the orders of the Sindh Health Department (SHD). However, the SHD told media that it was unaware of the decision to transfer Jatoi as it wasn’t contacted before the transfer.

To clarify, in order to transfer any accused to a private hospital, the home department consults the health department. Later, a medical board is formed to make a final decision. However, as per reports, none of that happened.

Sindh CM announces inquiry

Reacting to this, Sindh CM said that he will initiate an inquiry against those who facilitated Shahrukh Jatoi. He also said the people responsible for the incident will be punished.

“I found about this yesterday. When I will go back I will demand an inquiry. Whoever is involved will be punished,” CM Murad Ali Shah said.

He also thanked the media for running the news on Jatoi. He said media thinks that highlighting such lapses in governance is point-scoring. However, it is beneficial for us as it helps us take relevant actions, the minister added.

In 2012, Shahrukh Jatoi shot dead 20 year old Shahzeb Khan.
