Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met Prime Minister Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi along with other senior ministers to discuss the ongoing Faizabad crisis.
Reportedly, Gen. Bajwa advised the Prime Minister to abstain from carrying out further police operations on the Faizabad sit-in. He suggested that a political solution should be sought and negotiations should be revived.
The COAS also said to have asked the government to lift the ban on broadcast of TV news channels.
Previously, the Islamabad High Court had ordered the government to take action against protestors occupying Faizabad in order to restore normality in the twin cities. However, the police and relevant authorities completely bungled the operation which has now led to a nationwide crisis.
