Death of Ertugrul Gazi leaves Pakistani fans shocked

The Pakistani audience expressed grief on the death of Ertugrul Gazi on Twitter.

The death of the main character of Ertugrul Gazi in the ongoing second season of Kurulus Osman shocks Pakistani fans. In the latest episode broadcasted on Wednesday, 23rd December, the titular character of Dirilis Ertugrul, dies.

Humongous reactions poured in on social media from Pakistani audiences who have been following the show, Kurulus Osman. The Turkish serial is the continuation of Dirilis Ertugrul and depicts the story of Osman I, the founder of the Ottoman Empire.

The Pakistani audience expressed grief on the death of Ertugrul Gazi on Twitter. Turkish actor, Tamer Yigit had played Ertugrul Bey in Kurulus Osman. Pakistani audience had developed a liking for the show with the broadcast of Dirilis Ertugrul on state-run television, PTV.

Actors Didem Balcin (Selcan Hatun) and Nurettin Sonmez (Bamsi Bey) have been appearing in Kurulus Osman as well.

Sonmez also posted an emotional post on Instagram following the broadcast of the episode featuring the death of Ertugrul Bey.

He shared a picture from the episode with a caption in Turkish.  “It was a very difficult scene, full of emotion and an endless moment,” he wrote regarding filming the death scene of Ertugrul Bey.

He paid tribute to Yigit and Engin Altan Duzyatan, who played Ertugrul in Dirilis Ertugurl for a flawless performance.

“Tamer YiÄŸit, the giant actor in my arms, I had @enginaltandzytn and his ErtuÄŸrul Gazi in my eyes.”

Earlier this month, the Turkish series, Dirilis Ertugrul topped the Google Search trends 2020 in Pakistan in the category of TV dramas and movies.

The drama outran the second most-watched Pakistani serial, ‘Meray Pass Tum Ho’ in Pakistan, showed the latest trends released by the search engine, Google, this week.

In November, Dirilis Ertugrul had surpassed 10 million followers on its Urdu YouTube channel, TRT Ertugrul by PTV, reported Director of Digital Content and Strategy, Riyaad Minty.
