FIEDMC to tighten security in industrial estates

Amidst the current COVID-19 crisis, Chairman FIEDMC announces measures to tighten security. A ceremony was held by FIEDMC officials, where new motorbikes and vehicles were distributed to security personnel.

On 5th May 2020, Chairman FIEDMC, Mian Kashif Ashfaq, assured full support to foreign and local industrialists to continue safe operations during the COVID-19 crisis. He shared that it is high priority for FIEDMC to tighten security in Allama Iqbal Industrial City and M-3 Industrial City; this will boost confidence of the investors in the projects.

Mian Kashif expressed these views in a private ceremony for the security personnel of Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC). On the occasion, he presented them with keys to new motorcycles and vehicles (dedicated to help tighten the security at the industrial estates).

The ceremony was also attended by several other FIEDMC officials. These included Chief Operating Officer, Muhammad Aamir Saleemi, Chief Security Officer Col Retd Sarfraz and Senior Manager Admin Zubair Azhar.

While addressing the attendees, Mian Kashif said, “It is our top priority to provide security to our industrialists; and there are many foreign and local industrial units inside M-3 Industrial City and Value Addition City”. He further added, “After providing motorcycles and vehicles to security personnel, the overall security is more beefed up. Now they can conduct patrolling round the clock to avoid any untoward incident in these industrial cities”.

Measures taken by FIEDMC to increase security in their industrial estates

Chairman Kashif further added, “FIEDMC has also taken the responsibility to arrange protection to any and every one working or visiting the industrial estate. For this purpose, the Punjab government has granted approval for setting up a Model Police Station in the Special Economic Zones of FIEDMC”.

Furthermore, two police posts will be established in M-3 Industrial City; and one similar police post in the Value Addition City and Allama Iqbal Industrial City each. He also said, “The Police Station will employ a highly trained staff, also fluent in spoken English and Chinese languages; that is, in case of interaction with foreign investors or visitors. FIEDMC will cooperate with the model police station to bear their expenditures”.

He further promised that in order for FIEDMC to tighten security for investors, potent measures will be taken. They will construct a wire boundary wall to prevent unwanted break-ins. Moreover, searchlights and CCTV cameras will also be installed.

He then explained that a foolproof monitoring system would also be set up in the economic zones. This will be based on the pattern of Punjab’s Safe Cities, further linked with a central monitoring system. Additionally, they will also set up a service center in the model police station. This will screen employees in the SEZs to avoid hiring people with previous criminal records.

Mian Kashif then appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar; as they extended all kinds of support to speed up ongoing development projects of FIEDMC.

He shared that the government was also encouraging financial inclusion and public-private partnership. The Chairman FIEDMC believes that Pakistan had immense natural and human resources, which if utilized wisely, could make it one of the world’s developed countries.
