‘Heeramandi’ actress Sharmin Segal faces severe backlash

During an interview promoting the Netflix series "Heeramandi," Segal referred to Hydari as a "good school girl" due to her punctuality and adherence to rules.

“Heeramandi” actor Sharmin Segal has stirred controversy after a video surfaced in which she appeared to take a jab at her co-star Aditi Rao Hydari.

During an interview promoting the Netflix series “Heeramandi,” Segal referred to Hydari as a “good school girl” due to her punctuality and adherence to rules. Segal commented, “Aditi is a good school girl, please understand that. The teacher will say you have to submit your homework at this time, and Aditi will do exactly that and not one more word than the word count limit. That is Aditi for you. So, according to her, everyone is late and she is on time.”

This remark drew criticism from social media users, with many slamming Segal’s comments. It’s worth noting that Segal, the niece of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, portrayed Alamzeb in the Netflix series. Her performance has been frequently criticized as bland and expressionless, with some viewers dubbing her the weakest link in the seasoned cast. Critics have also questioned Bhansali’s decision to cast his niece in a significant role.

In response to the backlash against Segal, Hydari defended her co-star, calling the criticism mean and horrible. Hydari emphasized that while people have different opinions, there is a respectful way to express them.

“It’s horrible to pick on anybody. I know some people like something and some people don’t. There is a way to say it. It can get very mean. It has gotten very mean, and I think it’s not fair, and it shouldn’t happen like that,” Hydari stated.
