After being ousted from office in April, the former cricketer, who has been advocating for new elections, has been giving vehement speeches at events across the nation.

Imran Khan is organising a massive protest against the current administration into Islamabad. Khan has just declared that the long march will continue for an additional 10 months until the election date is set. When the shooting occurred, he was six days into a march from Lahore to Islamabad in support of early elections and radical change in the state.

The public is frustrated and demands that those who are trying to kill Imran Khan be penalized. In the words of PTI supporters, Imran Khan is their “red line,” and whoever attempts to lay a finger on him shall have to face the consequences.
