Some have appreciated the scene of friendly interaction between the skippers of arch-rivals cricket teams- India and Pakistan. “Such a lovely positive gesture from Kabir Khan & Ranveer in ’83. A film about Kapil Dev shows in a few seconds the decades-old bond of Imran Khan & Kapil Dev. Kapil was one of Khan’s special guests at his oath-taking ceremony in 2018. Kaisi chal rahi hai app ki taayari Pha jee!,” wrote journalist Mehr Tarar.

Back in December, Bollywood actor, Ranveer Singh, had promised a special moment for the audiences in Pakistan in his film 83. Ranveer Singh had started the promotions of the movie with Deepika Padukone. The real-life couple is also playing an on-screen couple in the movie.

In the press conference, he said: “There’s a very special moment that will make you happy as a Pakistani,” Ranveer said. “I won’t give it away, but in a few days you will watch the film, and then you will remember me,” he added.

Both Kapil Dev and Imran Khan shared amicable relations on and off the field. Both Imran Khan and Kapil Dev were invited for a show during Khan’s last trip to India before becoming the premier. Both the cricketers praised each other for impressive individual performances and significant contributions to their respective Indian teams.

In the question and answer session, Kapil Dev admitted that he was inspired by Imran Khan to win the world cup for India.
