PTI govt. granted scholarships to 92,000 students!

The government had so far granted around 92,000 scholarships on merit to male and female students from all public sector universities under the Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme, Minister Farrukh Habib said.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib Thursday said the government had so far granted around 92,000 scholarships on merit to male and female students from all public sector universities under the Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Programme, a key component of Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Programme.

The minister, on his Twitter handle, said by extending the scholarship facility to the students, especially those who belonged to low-income families, had transformed their dream of getting higher education in universities into a reality.

For the current year, Farrukh said around 122,744 applications had been received for the Ehsaas Scholarship from across the country including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said scrutiny of these applications would be completed by June for award of scholarships to both male and female students for a 4 or 5-year graduation programme.

Scholarship complaint platform

Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) on 17 Feb and inaugurated the launch of the scholarship complaint portal. He congratulated the Vice-Chancellor of NUST for consistently improving the university’s quality of education, which in 2021 ranked in the top 500 universities in the world.

The portal aims to develop a centralized system for all things scholarship and would ensure the dissemination of scholarships based on merit and no other criterion. The scholarship portal also seeks to establish a centralized system for scholarship-related issues and would ensure transparency during the process.

The scholarship portal would be a platform very similar to the citizen portal where students would be able to register their complaints and see timely redressal of their grievances.

Prime Minister Imran Khan noted the importance of this platform as it would take the burden of financing their education off the students and would enable them to focus on their studies.
