PTV has fired two employees for airing “incorrect maps of Pakistan” which showed Jammu and Kashmir the part of the Indian territory.
The matter was brought to light in the senate. After which the Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani referred the matter to the Senate Standing Committee on Information and broadcast.
In a tweet on Wednesday, the state broadcaster said: “Taking strict action on the recommendations of the inquiry committee designated to probe the airing of an incorrect image of a map of Pakistan on June 6 on PTV News. Also, it informed that PTV management has terminated two officials found responsible for the professional oversight.
Wait, PTV fired two people for getting (an important) map wrong. How many people have been fired from the Railways Ministry for causing the deaths of dozens, if not hundreds of people, through negligence?

PTV stated that on June 7 that it will not tolerate such negligence. PTV assured of strict action against those responsible.
The airing of incorrect maps on the state television garnered criticism from social media users. Federal Ministers including Fawad Chaudhry and Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari expressed ire on the incident.
In his tweet, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry asked Minister Shibli Faraz to take notice of the incident.
Meanwhile, Shireen Mazari also called the incident “absolutely unacceptable”. She attributed the mistake to “sheer carelessness and lethargy”. Also, she urged Shibli Faraz to take action.
India celebrated the incorrect map of Pakistan
However, the Indian media celebrated the human lapse of a broadcasting incorrect map of Pakistan on state television. They called it their victory as the map showed Kashmir the Indian Territory. As the news is making waves in India claim it vindicates their claims on Kashmir. Pakistan and India are in a stiff battle on the disputed territory of Kashmir for decades.
But the social media users slammed the state organization for firing the two employees for the mistake. Moreover, they called it a harsh step of the PTV as sacking the employees during the economic slowdown because of pandemic coronavirus would hurt the families of the employees financially.
