Sazgar-BAIC starts production of BAIC BJ40 turbo in Pakistan

The locally assembled Jeep is often compared to the wrangler and is an offroader. However, unlike wrangler, BJ40 offers luxury along with modern style to tap a wider market of adventurers and car enthusiasts

A Facebook auto blog named “Cars of Pakistan” posted pictures on 8th July claiming that  Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) has started the production of BAIC BJ40 2.0L turbo has started in Pakistan.

The post said that Sazgar-BAIC has successfully assembled their king of off-road.

According to the available information, the new version launching in Pakistan is BJ40 Plus. The new version is 3 inches wider than the older BJ40L. Furthermore, the company has completely revamped the interior of the latest version, from traditional to modern.

The older CBU version had a left-hand drive, while the new one is expected to come with a right-hand drive, suitable for Pakistan.

The engine of BAIC BJ40 Plus

According to Pakwheels, the company will launch this new SUV in both diesel and petrol engines in Pakistan. However, both engines will be 2.0L Turbo engines, producing 218hp.

It was reported earlier that the company would release the petrol version first, and it seems to be true.

Exterior

The front of this SUV looks very modern, especially the rectangle-shaped fog lamps.

Meanwhile, one can remove the car’s doors, roof, and windscreen, making it a Wrangler-like Jeep. It has often even been compared to wrangler, as being unique with respect to other SUVs.

Once the roof is taken off, the car gives a very rustic, tough, or aggressive look. The brake lights at the rear are also quite unique compared to other SUVs.

Interior

Like the exterior, the interior is both modern and aggressive. The speedometer compares to those of luxury cars and comes with two themes.

The SUV features 11-inch infotainment floating screen, with all the modern tech one may ask for, installed in it. 

The car has two drive modes, a sports mode, and a snow mode. The company claims that the user can remove the roof from within the vehicle within 2 minutes.

The BAIC BJ40 also comes with an additional soft top, which may be placed folded in the car. The company claims that the car offers luxury along with toughness, unlike Wrangler.

The car additionally comes with parking brakes, a 3-view reverse camera, cruise control. These features will be available in standard variants. Furthermore, Pakwheels wrote that the red car will come with a red dashboard trim, while others will have a blue dashboard.
