Summer in Qatar; QNTC offers lucrative discounts to visitors

In a breakthrough instance of public-private partnership, the Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC) has announced its joint venture with Qatar Airways, a premium carrier of the Gulf state, offering numerous exciting discounts on airfare to Qatar from more than 150 destinations worldwide for its exhilarating “Summer in Qatar” public event.

Starting June 4, around Eid-Al-Fitr, the Summer in Qatar program is an initiative of the Qatari government, to attract foreign tourists for an ultimate experience of Qatar’s hospitality and culture. Expected to end on Eid-Al-Adha around August 16, the event is said to be offering special discounts and promotions for visitors availing the opportunity in the realms of hospitality and accommodation, sightseeing, local cuisine, cultural excursions, travel and a plethora of amusement options to choose from.

The event perhaps is a celebration of Qatar’s diversified present deeply rooted in its historical and cultural richness.

Ehab Amin, Senior Vice-president of Qatar Airways in the middle east, Africa and Pakistan stated: “We are delighted to celebrate ‘Summer in Qatar’ by providing our residents and visitors with these great promotions and special discounts including airfare to Qatar so they may enjoy the many attractions on offer this summer season.”

While giving a brief overview of the upcoming activities for the program he promised a summer that the tourists, visitors and locals will remember and cherish forever.

“From concerts to film and comedy festivals, to cultural exhibitions and family entertainment, there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. We look forward to receiving family and friends of Qatar’s residents from around the world, providing them the chance to experience an unforgettable ‘Summer in Qatar”, Mr. Amin added.

Secretary-General QNTC and also the Chief Executive of Qatar Airways Group, Akbar Al Baker said: “This year’s summer season promises to put Qatar on the map as a destination for authentic experiences.  Beginning in June and continuing till mid-August, this Summer in Qatar allows visitors to participate in the festivities surrounding the two Eids – which bookend the season this year.”

“Leveraging the collaboration between aviation, hospitality, and tourism, we are offering discounts on airfare, promotional travel packages, and exceptional airport experiences throughout summer.  From cultural excursions to family entertainment, there is something for everyone in Qatar.”, he added further.

What to look forward to on this year’s Summer In Qatar?

Qatar brings together traditional hospitality with its modern cosmopolitan outlook, the chance to enjoy a rich cultural experience, with modern new adventures. This charm of the old and the new is what makes Qatar distinct in comparison to its regional competitors of the tourism and hospitality sector.

Offering a Visa-free entry for more than 80 countries including Pakistan, the program is said to be one of the biggest event that Qatar is set to host.

In addition to visa relief, Qatar Airways is said to be offering a 25 percent discount on airfares from more than 150 countries to Doha starting from June 4 to August 16. For transit passengers, Qatar Airways is offering a unique package, +Qatar that is designed to provide luxury transit stays at top-notch hotels and transit-visa facility for those interested. A personalized “meet and assist service” is also being offered to passengers arriving at the Hamad International Airport.

Luxury accommodation and hospitality services are planned out for the tourists staying in between the finalized dates of the program. A 25 percent discount is being offered to all accommodation services including the JW Marriot chain of premium hotels.

All kinds accommodating family-friendly and children-friendly entertainment activities are being planned out for the guests, residents and local Qataris. Discounted cultural experiences at Souq Waqif and Katara Cultural Village, Doha Corniche for a beautiful view of the Doha skyline, entry to historical museums and artifacts and modern art display in the streets of Qatar is all part of the exciting experience during the summer program. Other than the local art, culture and history, foreign artists are also expected to perform at various musical evenings. In addition to that, performing art and theatre performances are being lined up for adults and children with a penchant for art.

Qatar continues to engage in international tourism diplomacy in order to generate a diversified economy. The Summer in Qatar program is expected to rebuild the dwindling international reputation of Qatar in the wake of 2017 Gulf blockade. The Summer in Qatar program is said to be a step forward in the right direction. As Qatar also sets to enter the World Cup 2020 host-league, events such as these bring Qatar a reliable foreign revenue and the status of a peace-loving country that it had lost two years ago.
