Why KIA has become Pakistan’s new favourite car company?

KIA, the famous South-Korean automobile manufacturer and a new entrant in the Pakistani auto market, has done it. Not only did KIA come third in January 2021 car sales, but the car brand also outperformed Honda. Looks like the monopoly of Big 3 Japanese car brands (Suzuki, Toyota, and Honda) is falling. That’s big news for the local market.

Lucky Cement Limited’s subsidiary, Lucky Motor Corporation, has revealed in a financial report for 2021 that it produced 22,500 units of its vehicles in FY2021. The corporation’s total production capacity is 50,000 vehicles per anum.

Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) used 44.6 percent of its maximum production capacity, according to government estimates. The data suggest that LMC moved north of 1500 units every month on average, despite the fact that it did not publish its sales figures in the report.

This is a significant milestone for the organisation, given it has just been a little more than two years since it first opened its doors in Pakistan.

KIA Sportage is definitely a winner amongst others

The Kia Sportage, the company’s compact crossover SUV, is also its most popular car, with sales now leading all crossover SUVs in Pakistan.

The Kia Sorento competes in the local midsize SUV segment but is a rare sight on the roads, especially when compared to the Toyota Fortuner that holds the top spot in terms of sales figures.

The Kia Sorento competes in the local midsize SUV class, although it is rarely seen on the road, especially when compared to the Toyota Fortuner, which is the market leader in terms of sales.

According to reports, Lucky Motors (LMC) is planning to launch the Stonic and Peugeot 2008 in Pakistan. Both are subcompact crossover SUVs, however, the former will be marketed to the public, while the latter will be marketed as a premium vehicle for a niche market. Nonetheless, they are both expected to allow the company’s production and sales to rise significantly.

Like other new entrants, KIA is not yet a Pakistan Automobile Manufacturers Association (PAMA) member. As a result, the PAMA car sales report charts do not include KIA sales. However, according to Topline Securities data, KIA sold more than 2,500 cars in January 2021. As per the PAMA report, Honda sold 2,450 cars during the same month.
