Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that his opponents are planning to get rid of him by filing a treason case after reports emerged that key officials deliberated over the idea.
Reportedly, the federal government was mulling over filing treason charges against the former premier and the chief ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan during a special committee meeting of the cabinet over PTI’s “Azadi March” of May 25.
“They want to get rid of me through a treason case. “Can Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif file treason cases against me? All of their properties are in foreign countries,” he said.
“The only reason the government is against me is that they know once I am out of the way, it makes it easier for them to siphon the country’s money to foreign countries.”
Khan said he has not broken any law and his party never “wanted to get into clashes with the army, rangers, or police.”
Criticising the ‘neutrals,’ the PTI Chairman said, “being apolitical is a good thing, but national security is also important.”
Taking the government to task for a hike in petroleum and electricity prices, Khan said the present government has no stake in Pakistan as all their leaders reside out of the country, so they accept the demand of IMF.

“What do they care? They are the slaves of the US and the IMF. They take dictation from abroad and take all the decisions in line with foreign directives,” he said.
The former PM said India, Israel, and the US had hatched the conspiracy to weaken Pakistan.
“US doesn’t want a stable Pakistan. A stable Pakistan won’t serve US interests in the region.”
He further warned that the government would dissolve the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to dissolve its corruption cases.
Earlier on Thursday, the government increased the price of petrol by Rs30 to Rs209.86, a 60 rupees hike in less than a month to revive the stalled IMF programme.
