Akshay Kumar reveals official poster of ‘Kesari’ on historic Saragarhi battle

Indian actor Akshay Kumar has revealed the official poster of his upcoming movie ‘Kesari’ on Wednesday 11th September. Kesari is a periodic film based on the battle of Saragarhi in which 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghan tribesmen in 1897. Kumar shared the poster on his Instagram account to mark the anniversary of landmark Saragarhi Battle fought on September 12, 1987.

The poster features Akshay Kumar as a turbaned Sikh, raising his hand holding a rifle. He is seen leading the entire unit of turbaned Sikh warriors. On Saragarhi Day, here’s the first look of Kesari — our humble tribute to the martyrs of Saragarh,” he captioned the image.

Battle of Saragarhi is amongst the toughest battle of the history fought by Sikhs in which they had to fight with thousands of tribesmen from Orakzai and Afridi tribe in North West Frontier Province.

While sharing the same poster on Twitter the actor paid a rich tribute to the Sikh martyrs of the battle. He wrote, “On #SaragarhiDay, here’s the first look of #KESARI – our humble tribute to the martyrs of Saragarhi! “Aaj meri pagdi bhi Kesari…Jo bahega Mera woh Lahu bhi Kesari… Aur Mera jawaab bhi Kesari.”

Earlier Akshay Kumar shared his first look from the movie in a heavy turban and a big beard. Sharing the picture, Akshay Kumar wrote, “Feeling nothing but immense pride and gratitude while sharing this. Beginning my 2018 with #KESARI, my most ambitious film and a lot of passion. Need your best wishes as always.”

Akshay Kumar shared his views on the movies and said, “I’ve started shooting for my film Kesari, where I’m in the heaviest turban and beard I’ve ever had to wear. So I shaved my head to make my life a little easier. I’m known for hating wigs, prosthetics and so on, and Kesari is quite demanding. It’s probably my favorite look, though it’s taxing to fight and sweat in this avatar. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Kesari is anticipated to be another massive profit yielding periodic movie after Padmaavat of the current Bollywood era. The movie is expected to be released next year in 2019. Battle of Saragarhi is amongst the toughest battle of the history fought by Sikhs in which they had to fight with thousands of tribesmen from Orakzai and Afridi tribe in North West Frontier Province. The Sikh new they were outnumbered but continued to fights for several hours under the command of Havaldar Ishar Singh. Akshay Kumar is set to play the lead role of Ishar Singh in the movie.
