Bilawal Bhutto criticizes KPK govt. for attack on PPP senator’s house

In a statement, Bilawal Bhutto called the attack "open terrorism" and accused the KPK government of sympathizing with terrorists. 

Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has condemned the attack on PPP Senator Shamim Afridi’s house. He also criticized the PTI-led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for the “disturbing” law and order situation in the province.

In a statement, Bilawal Bhutto called the attack “open terrorism” and accused the KPK government of being lenient with terrorists.

“Attack on the house of Senator Shamim Afridi and MPA Amjad Afridi is open terrorism. This unbearable incident is proof of the disturbing situation of law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said.

“Democratic political workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are unsafe due to the provincial government sympathizing with terrorists,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari further added.

Bilawal Bhutto demanded justice and also called for the protection of PPP Senator Shamim Afridi and MPA Amjad Afridi.

“Those involved in terrorism should be brought to justice immediately,” Bilawal Bhutto said while adding, “Protection should be provided to Senator Shamim Afridi and MPA Amjad Afridi.”

Attack on PPP Senator’s house

Miscreants hurled a grenade at the house of PPP senator Shamim Afridi in Kohat Thursday night and also opened fire over the lawmaker’s alleged refusal to pay them extortion.

According to the details by the police, the grenade hit the rooftop of the house of Shamim Afridi’s son Ibraheem Afridi, who lives in a joint family house with his brothers, MPA and PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information secretary Amjad Afridi and former federal minister Abbas Afridi. No one was hurt but the wall of the roof and the main door were damaged in the attack.

The miscreants managed to escape after retaliation by the police party. A heavy contingent of police and the Bomb Disposal Squad also reached and cordoned off the area. The police are investigating the matter and ascertaining the cause behind the attack, however, the family claimed that they had been receiving threats of killing and extortion.
