China offers to play a “constructive role” in easing tensions between Pakistan and Iran

Yundong, in an exclusive conversation with Geo News, stated that China seeks to act constructively in facilitating dialogue between the two nations.

Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and Iran, the Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, expressed Beijing’s desire to play a positive role in resolving differences between Islamabad and Tehran. Yundong, in an exclusive conversation with Geo News, stated that China seeks to act constructively in facilitating dialogue between the two nations.

Addressing Iran’s recent breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty through a missile attack in Balochistan, Yundong emphasized that China, considering Pakistan and Iran as significant countries in the region and the Muslim world, hopes for the resolution of their differences through peaceful talks and diplomatic means.

Following Iran’s violation of Pakistan’s airspace on January 17, resulting in casualties and injuries, the Chinese consul general urged both nations to exercise restraint, adhere to UN principles, and comply with international norms to find amicable solutions through dialogue.

Responding to a query about China’s potential role in easing tensions in the Middle East amid the Gaza conflict expanding to Yemen, Yundong stated that China, from the outset of the Gaza conflict, has urged the international community to play a crucial role in promoting a ceasefire.

As a member of the UN Security Council, China has actively supported resolutions in the UNGA and aims to collaborate with regional players to advocate for a swift ceasefire, humanitarian assistance, and the reduction of excessive force against civilians.
