COAS Bajwa to visit flood-affected areas in Sindh

COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa will visit Army Relief Camps set up for flood victims in Sindh’s Naushehro Feroze district to review the arrangements.

Pakistan is currently in the process of providing relief to flood victims. Regarding this, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will visit the flood-affected areas of Sindh today.

According to the details by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa will visit Army Relief Camps set up for flood victims in Sindh’s Naushehro Feroze district to review the arrangements. He will also conduct an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Sindh during his visit.

Devastating floods engulfed large swathes of the country this month, affecting 33 million people, causing damage estimated at $30 billion, and killing more than 1,500.

As the flood waters recede, relief activities are in full swing across the country as the nation comes together to help the flood victims. During this time, the state institutions have gone all out, facilitating flood relief operations.

Pakistan Army’s flood relief operations

Pakistan Army has continued relief activities and provision of medical assistance in flood-affected areas of Sindh and Balochistan provinces. Earlier, the Pakistan Army distributed ration bags and other relief items in the affected area in Kandhkot.

ISPR said ration bags were distributed to 400 hundred people in Gharibabad village. ISPR said that women were also given warm clothes, household utensils, and nutritious food for children.

Moreover, COAS Bajwa also personally visits the flood-affected areas from time to time to oversee the relief operations. Earlier, General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited flood-affected areas of Badin district in Sindh and spent time with the flood victims in relief and medical camps, the military said in a statement. The army chief also met army troops busy in rescue and relief activities in the Malkani Sharif area of Badin.

The army chief also interacted with the business community in Karachi. During the interaction, the COAS said that the business community has always helped the people of Pakistan during various natural calamities including their support in recent floods.
