CSS officer is being slammed on Twitter for posting the video of the raid on his social media. The Assistant Commissioner showed his raid as his first assignment being a CSS officer.
The social media post of the Assistant Commissioner is garnering mixed responses on Twitter. A score of netizens thinks that a CSS officer should have not posted his professional activities on social media. He should focus on his work and must not engage himself in activities that will distract his attention.
CSS officer Osama Hamid posted a video of conducting a raid on tax collection. In the caption of the Instagram post, he wrote: “Integration with the POS system is a vital part of collecting taxes.” He also urged his followers to be mindful of collecting FBR POS receipts. “Always request an FBR POS receipt when paying, so that you know where your taxes are going,” said AC Osama Hamid.
It is not his job to make you feel good or bad about the work he does. He is simply doing his job, and whether or not you agree with it, it is necessary for maintaining order in society.

Twitter user Ailia Zehra posted the screenshot from the video of the Assistant Commissioner. She demanded that the CSS system should be abolished in Pakistan. The post triggered debate in which many said there is no harm if the CSS officer is posting his assignments and achievements on social media.
Others said that it is difficult to alienate CSS officers and bureaucrats from social media hence they should be trained regarding the use of social media. A user said that currently there is no law stopping them from posting such stuff hence they should be allowed to do so.
The Civil Services Academy needs to incorporate a proper, more practical module on social media usage for the new civil servants. Showing off offices, staff, raids and vigos is undignified and unbecoming. We need to raise to a higher standard.

CSS is quite outdated anyway. We end up with doctors in police and engineers in customs. There need to be Subject Matter Experts to be considered for hiring in govt departments. The colonial practice of generalists is over.
