Following the launching of the XPS 13 Plus last month, Dell has introduced the most recent XPS 13 (9315) ultrabook. In contrast to the Plus version, the recently introduced device has the recognisable XPS design and is smaller and lighter than its predecessor.

Design

With dimensions of 11.63 x 7.85 x 0.55 inches and a light weight of 1.17kg, the Dell XPS 13 boasts a thin aluminium body. It has a 13.4-inch InfinityEdge 16:10 aspect ratio display with a Full HD (1920 x 1200) non-touch screen as standard or a 4K touchscreen as an option. It is an anti-glare (matte) screen with a maximum brightness of 500 nits for eye protection.

The webcam has the same old 720p resolution rather to the modern 1080p found in most high-end laptops, along with an IR camera for Windows Hello facial unlock and a fingerprint reader for further protection.

Internals

The computer has a choice of Core i5-1230U or i7-1250U 12th generation Core processors from Intel, along with Intel Iris Xe onboard graphics. Storage options range from 256GB to 2 TB PCIe NVMe solid-state drives, while RAM options include 8GB/16GB/32GB of 5200 MHz LPDDR5 Dual-channel memory.

It boasts dual-array microphones and dual stereo speakers (tweeter and woofer) with a 4W output when it comes to audio and speakers.

Ports and a Battery

The 3-cell, 51Wh battery within the XPS 13 may be topped off using a 45W USB Type-C adapter.

Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6 1675 (AX211) 22 with a 5.2 wireless card Bluetooth is one of the additional specifications. There are only two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 connections onboard, so if you want to utilise a headphone jack or HDMI, you’ll need a dongle.

Cost, colours, and accessibility

The Dell XPS 13 (9315) is priced at $1,260 for the Intel Core i5 model and $1,639 for the Intel Core i7 model. It comes in the colours Sky and Umber.
