Doors open for talks: PM Shehbaz forms committee for PTI long march

Meanwhile, PTI leaders are calling the government's call for negotiations absurd. They are urging the government to announce early elections instead of forming committees.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a Federal Cabinet Committee to tackle the PTI’s long march towards Islamabad led by PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.

According to the details, the cabinet body will be headed by Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and comprises nine members which include PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Marriyum Aurangzaib, PPP’s Qamar Zaman Kaira, MQM’s Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, ANP’s Mian Iftikhar, and JUI’s Maulana Asad.

The committee for the long march has been constituted to maintain the law and order and hold political dialogue. The cabinet committee would also hold talks if someone is interested in dialogue over the long march.

“Our doors are always open for negotiations. We are democrats, prepared for talks, but won’t let any person take the law in his hands,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said.

PTI responds to govt call for talks

Meanwhile, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry has called the government’s call for negotiations absurd. He criticized the government and said on the one hand the government has banned live coverage of the long march, while on the other hand is forming a committee for the long march.

“The news of the government’s invitation for talks is frivolous. On the one hand, PTI workers are being arrested, and there are restrictions on the coverage of the long march, on the other hand, the news of the formation of a frivolous committee is only to engage the Azadi March. These tricks will not work, announce the election date,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

Similarly, PTI leader Farrukh Habib also demanded that the government announce early elections as the nation is going through a very tough time.

“Jokes on the name of the negotiation committee should be stopped. He [Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif] should seriously announce early elections first. For 6 months, the country has been ruled by the imported government, the industries have closed down, the farmers have come to the streets, the laborers are unemployed, the poor are forced to starve and the 50-year inflation record will be broken and the electricity bills have broken the backs of the people,” Farrukh Habib said.
