The Twitter has suspended the account of Dr. Shahbaz Gill, the spokesperson of Chief Minister of Punjab apparently after the complaint filed by Muslim League-Nawaz leader Maryam Nawaz for sharing the details of the health of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Dr. Shahbaz Gill in his tweet shared the personal health details of former premier Nawaz Sharif to which Maryam Nawaz Sharif objected and filed a complaint to Twitter t suspend his account. Subsequently, his account was suspended temporarily on Monday.
In the video, he explained Mian Nawaz Sharif’s health and doctors’ advice. He was, however, asked to take down the video that he refused.
Dr. Shahbaz Gill asserted that he used the Twitter platform to update the public about the health of former premier since it is the responsibility of the state to inform the masses about his health.
The Twitter informed Dr.Gill that they have received a complaint regarding his seven-minute video shared in a tweet on 22nd March 2019. In the video, he explained Mian Nawaz Sharif’s health and doctors’ advice. He was, however, asked to take down the video that he refused.
“I will not delete the tweet and would contest with the Twitter management about my role as a government representative and spokesman,” said Dr. Gill while talking to a local media outlet.
“This tweet has nothing to do with the personal details of a person but that of an inmate who needs to be attended well by the state,” he said.
Dr. Shahbaz Gill argued that he intends to counter the negative propaganda fueled by the opposition party PMLN over Mian Nawaz Sharif’s health. He said he explained in the video that the real test of Mr. Sharif is normal and that doctors have advised him to drink more water and reduce the consumption of meat and egg.
On the same day, he shared two video messages stating that former premier’s health has been politicized and pointed to the five consecutive tweets done by Maryam Nawaz in one hour.
