Fazlur Rehman’s bold statement generates crisis for PDM

Regarding the entire political chaos underway in Pakistan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said there is no such thing as neutrality. He also said that he is ready to face consequences for such a bold statement.

JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman believes that there are some people within the institutions behind the whole political conspiracy in Pakistan. He made the claims while giving an interview to a private media channel.

Currently, Pakistan is undergoing a political crisis. On 3rd April, the National Assembly Deputy Speaker ruled against the no-confidence motion under Article 5 of the Constitution. Later, PM Khan announced that he advised the President to dissolve all assemblies, and he also urged the nation to gear up for early elections.

On the other hand, both the Opposition and the government are accusing each other of treason. According to the government, the Opposition committed treason by working with foreign powers to topple the government. Meanwhile, the Opposition slammed Imran Khan for taking unconstitutional steps. They insisted he should be ‘dealt with’ in accordance with Article 6.

Consequently, the Opposition took the matter to the Supreme Court (SC) which refused to interfere in matters of the state and foreign policy. However, the SC would only determine the legality of NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling on the no-trust motion.

Pertinent to mention, the military announced to remain neutral and let the political proceedings take their course.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s hard-hitting statements

Regarding the entire political chaos underway in Pakistan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said neutrality is “suspicious”. While talking about early elections, he said the “institutions” did not want to hold elections as they aimed to use Imran Khan as a resource against future democratic governments. As a result, the foreign funding case against Imran Khan is being delayed.

“If the institutions have the authority to oust Nawaz Sharif and Yusuf Raza Gillani, then why are they showing leniency towards him [Imran Khan],” the JUI-F Chief questioned.

On this note, he said there is no such thing as neutrality. He said the institutions should clear up their roles. Furthermore, he said for the state, the last power is the Army which should be called when needed.

“Till now, there are some people within the institutions who are behind the entire conspiracy that has happened,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman said while referring to the disallowing of the no-trust vote and dissolving of the assembly. He also said that he is ready to face consequences for such a bold statement.

“Don’t force us to name these people,” he further warned.

Important to note, the JUI-F leader has made strong accusations against the institutions. Meanwhile, the dismissal of the no-confidence motion is a huge setback for the Opposition.
