UK universities remain open to international students and are preparing to welcome them to the UK in 2020. Here are seven reasons why the UK is the best study choice for your child.

In the UK, student wellbeing comes first

The health and wellbeing of international students is a top priority for UK universities, and they are working to ensure that they are safe and supported.

Many UK universities are going to great lengths to look after students’ physical and mental health and wellbeing are prioritised. Universities have already implemented several Covid-19 support services that current and future international students can access.

Some of the measures universities have taken to support current students include helplines for students that run 24/7, free accommodation for those in need, and facilitating free counselling and mental health support services. Many UK universities have put initiatives in place which support students to keep active and to continue to socialise safely, helping their mental wellbeing during the pandemic.

The UK offers a higher standard of education

Almost all universities are preparing to deliver some in-person teaching this autumn term. Some will blend face-to-face learning with online technology and tools to support student education and ensure teaching is delivered in a safe environment.

The UK higher education system demands high quality teaching, and any changes put in place by UK universities due to Covid-19 must adhere to the usual high-quality standards. This is the case whether teaching takes place in person or online.

Whatever the study experience will look like in 2020, international students are guaranteed to learn at the same world-leading institutions, with quality teaching and great employment prospects.

They will get a world-recognised qualification

With so many short, flexible and diverse courses on offer, UK universities offer international students real value for money.

UK graduates are among the most employable in the world (according to the QS Graduate Employability Rankings) and students report a distinct advantage over peers that are educated in other countries. The 2019 International Graduate Outcomes  report, from Universities UK International, reports that the majority of students believe they have progressed more quickly in their career, gained promotions and earned more because of a UK education.

You can give your child the best chance to succeed in their career by choosing the UK for their studies.

A warm welcome is waiting in the UK

The UK is one of the most trusted and popular study destinations in the world. It is a very safe country, with low crime rates and a trustworthy police force.

Our NHS (National Health Service) is one of the world’s most advanced healthcare systems, offering safe and modern treatment. Each of our educational institutions offers excellent and comprehensive support to students around issues of wellbeing and mental health.

A quarter of the UK’s university staff are from outside the UK, and dedicated pastoral staff ensure that international students have access to everything they need, from practising their religion to financial, educational and emotional support. Staff are also on hand to help build students confidence in speaking English. In addition, many institutions provide safety briefings and orientation sessions, so that students feel secure, supported, and ready to learn.

The student experience is unparalleled

We know that studying in the UK is about so much more than what students learn in the classroom. In the UK, there are also many societies and clubs to explore new interests and to make lasting friendships.

Most universities are preparing to offer in-person social opportunities for students from autumn 2020, including outside events and sporting activities, all while keeping strictly in line with government and public health guidance. So, although the first semester will be different to previous years, students can expect a range of social opportunities and significant face-to-face teaching, so that students can get the best possible education, in the safest possible way.

The overwhelming majority of international students feel very safe and secure in the UK, and able to develop both personally and academically in the home of the English language.
