Imad Wasim hints taking back his retirement in case Pakistan needs him

Imad Wasim expressed his plans to take back his retirement in case PCB calls him to play for the team. Pakistan is facing a challenge to build a formidable team ahead of this year's T20I World Cup.

Cricketer Imad Wasim hints at taking back his retirement in case Pakistan needs him. With the current T20I squad of Pakistan struggling against quality sides, arguments for the inclusion of experienced players in the teams have gained weight.

Imad Wasim expressed his plans to take back his retirement in case PCB calls him to play for the team. Pakistan is facing a challenge to build a formidable team ahead of this year’s T20I World Cup.

He expressed his intentions while talking to a local media outlet. “The decision I took, I was 100 % in it. But you never know when Pakistan needs you; you have to do something about it,” said Imad Wasim.

Wasim said he wants clarification regarding the status of senior players in the team.

“I want to clarify not as a captain but as a senior player about the direction the team wants to take, where I want to play or where a group of senior players want to take it,” he said.

He further said, “I want Pakistan to play cricket correctly and with the right blend. There’s no regret in retirement,”.

The cricketer said he is happy he is still playing cricket worldwide. Imad Wasim is actively taking part in the cricket leagues across the world. He is currently playing in the UAE T20 league.

Imad Wasim, who last played for Pakistan in the T20 series against New Zealand in 2023, surprisingly announced his retirement, catching many off guard. He began his international journey in May 2015 against Zimbabwe and went on to represent Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is.

Throughout his career, Wasim took 109 wickets and scored 1,472 runs. A key figure in the Pakistani team in recent times, he played a crucial role in their Champions Trophy victory in 2017. Additionally, Wasim was part of the T20 World Cups in 2016, 2019, and 2021.
